Possibly the same Andrew Silke found in the 1695 Marriage Duty Act records. May be child/nephew of John Silke, gunmaker of Whitechapel (c1600-1660) and this forge may be for forging guns. (Whitechapel located in St. Botolph Aldgate)
Perhaps originally the foundries forged hatchet heads, thus naming the street.
