The street leading north from the north corner of the market place had been given the name Wood Street by the early 17th century. (fn. 84) A nonconformist meeting house was built in it in the later 17th century, (fn. 85) and in the 18th century the street or part of it was called the World's End. (fn. 86) From Wood Street a road called Horse Lane in the 18th century, North Street from the 19th, led northwards. A road called Frog Lane in 1763-4 led eastwards.
