I live in New Hampshire (US) and my family name is Allard. We have traced our ancestry back to Hugh Hollard who married Grace Tucker on the Isles of Shoals in what is today New Hampshire in 1674. We found Thomas Hollard's will which mentions "alias Silke". We also found the farm, Silkhay in Netherbury which we visited some years ago. I recently found this web site for the Silk family.
We are confused about the connection between the name Hollard and the name "Silk" or "Silke". Can someone tell me what the "alias Silke" means? Is my family, who descended form Hugh Hollard, related to the Silk family?
I appreciate any help you can provide.
Jeffrey Allard New Durham, New Hampshire, USA
