Hello,
I just found the Silk Family site - My family(if my info is accurate) emigrated to America sometime in the late 1800s. The farthest back individual I know of with the name of Silk was my paternal grandfather. I never met him. He was James Silk, and he apparently deserted my grandmother during the late 1930s. My father, Howard William Silk, was forced to leave school in the eight grade. He worked on an ice wagon to help support his family until he joined the US Navy in 1941. When he left the Navy he apprenticed as a painter, eventually becoming a "Letterer and Grainer." In the mid 1950s my dad changed careers and became a Baltimore City Policeman. He had 4 massive heart attacks at age 48 and was retired. He died 4 years later at 52 from another heart attack in February 1978. He was survived by my Mother, Helen Catherine Silk (nee Noellert), Me, and my brothers Howard Francis Silk (unmarried - no children) and Christian Frederick Silk (divorced - 1 child, Kristin Elaine Silk.
My paternal grandmother was Marie A. Silk. Her maiden name was Davis. My dad's siblings were Edward Silk (Killed at the Normandy Invasion), Albert Silk (worked at Locke insulator in Baltimore - Lost track but I know he isn't alive), Charles E. Silk (Successful Insurance representative - Living in Delaware - No children), and my dad's younger sister Frances (Living in Baltimore - three children (James M. Smith, Cindy ?, and Sherry Assaman.)
I married Diane Elizabeth Phillips of Towson, Maryland on November 4, 1978. We have no children. I have had several careers, I was in the US Navy (HM1) for 15 years (some active, some reserve), I ran several small businesses, I supervised a Medical Records Office, I sold cars for about a year and a half, I was a systems analyst for about 20 years, and currently I am a high school teacher (Behavior Interventionist) in Baltimore County, Maryland.
