Hi, just found this website and all the great info re the Silks of Melancthon. My GGGgrandfather was William Silk (the 2nd settler of Melancthon). I'm a descendant of his daughter Elizabeth Silk who married Richard Slack. Would be interested to hear anymore on this part of the Silk Family.

I have been sent this info about your branch of the family from Jan in Arizona Thank Jan! "The Melancthon Silk line goes way back and belongs to the Calne Silk line. They were originally Church of England until, I believe, Jeremiah's mother Elizabeth Eddin Silk took him to Corsham to follow an alternative religion. The Non-Conformity records are in the LDS search labs (on-line). In Canada they were Methodist. I assume that was her following in Corsham. Please confirm this data with other sources. I would be curioius if any of the Slack line relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. [Wm. Silk & Ann Sumner's son Henry Isaac Silk mar. Christian Slack and migrated to Ontario.]" Earliest that we can feel sure about is -Hugh Silk b. cir 1593; bur 15 Dec 1655 Calne, Wiltshire. --Jeremiah Silk chr. 23 Nov 1634; Calne; mar. cir 1657 ---Hugh Silk 'Ye Elder' chr. 1665; Calne mar. c1688 to Hannah (thought to be surname Dark) ----William Silk b. 1701; mar 10 May 1727 St. Mary's Calne to Elizabeth Eddin -----Jeremiah Silk b. 1729; mar. 20 Jan 1752 Corsham to Mary Tinson (Non-Conformist) ------William Silk chr. 22 Feb 1767 Corsham; mar 17 Oct 1792 Corsham to Sarah Waite -------William Silk b. 15 Nov 1799 Corsham; mar 11 Jun 1821 Corsham to Ann Sumner --------William Silk chr. 8 Ap 1827 Corsham; mar.
