Well you got my attention, I have always wondered where my last name came from. I have also noticed a lot of Silk's from Europe. I am also part Native American which made me wonder if the last name was Indian or what. Hopefully ill be able to find something out on here. Thanks for the invite on Facebook.

Welcome to the forum I guess its a chance that a Native American might have that name but not be part of the same Silk's who originated in the UK. But saying that, I have heard of a few Native American family connections before, so you could well be related Could you tell us what tribe? and any info such as places, names and dates, grandfathers? anything really and we might be able to make a connection to an existing family tree. Thanks!

There is a huge Silk family in North Dakota, all of Native American descent. Apparently, there was a man whose family came from the UK, but he grew up in the States. He eventually had children and one of them married a Native American woman; that's how this family got started. The details could be a little off but if you look on the North Dakota Census records prior to 1800, it's really unclear. The roots of the Silk family in ND start with a man named Kid Silk, I believe.
